No actually I'm prolly playing Madden. I take pride in being pretty good at it, and I know that is sad, but I will never be in the NFL or even a pick up league. As you can see from my picture, I'm about 300 pounds. So I have decided to sahre the secret of my sucess. Alot of people play of the Pro or All-Pro Level. Those with balls paly All-Madden. In All-Madden most passes will get picked off unless your feet are planted, and running the ball is alot harder because your offense line can be decimated by blitzing. But there are certain plays which work almost every time against man defense. Ten yard button hooks work very well, so use those alot. If your playing against someone else, they will become really annoyed with the paly and the only way to stop it is to either bumb your reciever or use cover 2. When they start doing this, simply run a fly route up the sideline against the safties, it works even better if you have a tight end that run through the center of the field and draws attention from the satey then you should have good seperation. YOur tight end is probally your best target. If the defense is blitzing alot run some paly where your back goes out into the flat, but because with the throw because if you miss the back, you will fumble.

My advice is to run alot and to run first and make them stop the run and when they run 4-3 defense to switch to the pass. Run against any dime or nickel defenses.

On defense I use 4-3 and the Nickel 3-3-5. When using the 4-3 bring the strong saftey up by pressing the coverage button and moving the control stick to the left. Bring your defensive line in close, and control the saftey. By switching engage 8 and man coverage the offese will be confused, and not know if your blitzing or not. The quarterback will have no time to plant his feet and throw a good pass so hawk the center of the field with your free saftey. When running 3-3-5, paly as an outside linebacker and blitz whatever side the tight end is not on. You should use man coverage with your middle linebacker dropping into zone coverage for the middle of the field. You will have double coverage on wide recievers and single on the tightend, but watch the running back, if you blitz, hopefully you will get there so fast they cannot throw the ball away.

Those are my tips for playing. Pretty simple plays that you can use, or not, do your own thing, Last Blog Done.

Washington vs. San Diego

The Washington Redskins face the San Diego Chargers next week and I want to go over what the redskins will need to do in order to win the game. The first thing that they will need is shut down Ladanain Tomlinson. THeir recivers are not that great. Kenan McKardel who the redskins actually drafted about a decade ago, is their only reciever who poses a threat. Their other reciever Reche Caldwell poses no threat and should be covered by Walt Harris. Antinio Gates is there main target besides LT, but he is not expected to play in the game, which is a big relief.

On Offense they need to spread the field. San Diego has a decent run defense but their starting linebackers have been banged up and most likely are at 80%. Run the ball and run it to the outside. Use Portis's speed and agility to juke and spin all day over the defense. They also need to run 4 recievers so brunell has more throwing options. Brunell is good at getting the ball out in a hurry, and with more options to throw to instead of just moss and cooley, he wont fumble the ball as much when they are double covered.

The redskins will have a close game, because San Diego is one of the better teams in the league, and they can not afford to make costly mistakes and penalties. Moss hasn't had a touchdown in a few games, and its because teams know how to cover him now. So changing the game plan from the normal run then throw could throw San Diego off.

Week 12 Picks and Allstar Team

I'm going to go ahead and make my Week 12 picks early, regardless of any injury reports. We know McNabb is out for the season, and Eagles fans have basically given up on the team this year. Boo Hoo. There are some good games this week. Pittsburgh and Indianapolis, Denver and Dallas, and Chicago and Tampa Bay.

Atlanta vs. Detriot--------Atlanta

Detriot disappointed me last week in not defeating the cowboys so I automatically cannot pick them. Wide reciever charles rogers is out so that leaves Joey Harrington with only two first round picks and Kevin Jones running the ball. Atlantas Defense will shut down Kevin Jones, and Joey Harrinton blows. Vick can run against the Lions defense, so it should be a 14 point victory.

Denver vs. Dallas--------Denver

Denver I think should win this game, but it will be a close one. Both teams have great defenses, but I like Jake Plummer against the Cowboys secondary. THe Snake will no make any stupid throws like McNabb two monday nights ago, and Denvers Defense is fast enough to shut down Dallas Running game. Champ Bailey and John Lynch will give Drew Bledsoe trouble, while the revamped Denver Line will harrass his attempts at scrambling.

Baltimore vs. Cinncinati--------Baltimore

I am taking Baltimore for two reasons. One I just got a job in Baltimore, and two they just upset the Steelers last week. I like their corners against Chad Johnson. This is the one week were I think he will not make the end zone his dance floor. Another reason is that this is a divisional game, and they always play tougher against each other. Jamal Lewis will have his day.

St.Louis vs. Houston--------St.Louis

Houston is terrible, David Carr blows, and their defense blows. Marc Bulger is out, but Stephen Jackson can run like Larry Johnson so I don't think the Texans could stop anyone.

Carolina vs. Buffalo---------Carolina

Carolina got beat by the Bears last week in a suprising victory, and I know their fired up about the loss, and J.P. Losman better start buying ice cause hes gonna need it. Steve Smith for MVP.

San Fransisco vs. Tennessee--------San Fransicsco

Who really cares about this game. Both teams are pathetic, but Brandon Lloyd is a bright spot on the 49ers and their defense is still ok. Tennesse on the other hand is miserable in every aspect.

New England vs. Kansas City--------New England

Tom Brady vs a terrible defense, and Larry Johnson vs. a very good defense. Pats should win by 10.

Chicago vs. Tampa Bay---------Chicago

I am offically jumping on the Bears bandwagon. They have impressed me with their great defense and defense wins championships. They wont let Cadillac get any yards, and if old spice has taught me anything its, Brian Urlacher will not let anyone go over the top like Alstott did to my redskins.

San Diego vs. Washington---------Washington

Antino Gates is day to day. Plus the redskins need a win this week to stay in the playoff hunt. Wouldn't bet on the game though.

Cleveland vs. Minnesota--------Minnesota

Brad Johnson still has it. Cleveland shocked me last week. Oh did I say cleveland, I meant to say Rueben Droughns.
But I still think that Minnesota is finally playing better together, especially their defense.

Miami vs. Oakland---------Oakland

I can't believe Oakland won last week. I can't believe Miami lost last week. Im just going on history.

Jacksonville vs. Arizona--------Arizona

Upset city. I just have a gut feeling about Arizona, and I have to run with it.

New York Giants vs. Seattle-------Seattle

Another great game. This is important for home field in the playoffs, and shaun alexander has been great this year, and i can't stand it. But I am going with them anyway. Eli has looked unimpressive lately so I can't bet on him, plus I need him to lose for the redskins playoff run.

Green Bay vs. Philadelphia--------Green Bay

This is what a call the hospital bowl. These two teams have prolly lost more starters than anyone this year. I like Brett Farve, and I hate the Eagles. Teach jeremiah trotter how to play middle linebacker.

New Orleans vs. New York Jets--------New Orleans

New Orleans has got to win sometime, plus the Jets have their eyes set on Matt Leinart.

Pittsburgh vs. Indianapolis--------Indy

I am not sure if Big Ben is playing, but I know that Peyton Manning is playing, and EJ is playing, and Marvin Harrision is playing so I am sure they can score more points than Pittsburgh.

For my last posting, I would like to make my Allstar team for the year

Offense
QB: Peyton Manning Tom Brady
RB: Shaun Alexander LaDanian Tomlinson
FB: Mike Sellers Mike Alstott
WR: Marvin Harrison Steve Smith
WR: Santana Moss Chad Johnson
TE: Antonio Gates Chris Cooley

Defense
DE: Dwight Freeney Robert Mathis
DT: Cornelius Griffin Vince Wilfork
OLB: Lavar Arrington
MLB: Jonathan Vilma Brian Urlacher
CB: Champ Bailey Shawn Springs
CB: Ty Law Anthony Henry
FS: Sean Taylor Brain Dawkins
SS: Troy Polamalu Ed Reed

Redskins Lose Another One

The Washington Redskins lose their 5th game this week, when Oakland came to town. Unfortuantly I was unable to watch the game, because all they show in Newark, Delaware is the crappy Eagles game. I kept track of the game from my computer, where I saw they took the lead when Middle linebacker Lemar Marshall picked off Kerry Collins and returned it for a touchdown. That was their only touchdown of the game. Kicker John Hall kicked two field goals, and they had a comfortable lead until Collins hit Jerry Porter for a big yardage touchdown. We were winning until Turnovers gave Oakland the opportunity to take the lead in the last two minutes of the game. This is the second time, we have lost the lead in the final minutes of the game.

Our defense which has always been our bright side is begginning to look weak. Especially our corners. I was upset when we got rid of Champ Bailey two years ago, and thought it was stupid not to resign Fred Smoot and then sign Shawn Springs for a similar amount of money. Walt Harris has been getting worked all season, and Carlos Rogers is still young in his career, but we need to sure up our secondary this offseason. I would also like to see our defensive line get more pressure. It seems like our defensive ends do not do anything. Its too bad we gave up our first round pick next year to Denver to get Jason Cambell. Was it worth it, well were not sure until we see Cambell in there and right now hes not going to get that chance with Brunell playing consistent.

Speaking of Brunell, I still think he is doing a good job, and we are still in the run for the playoffs, but we can't keep losing these games in the fourth quarter. Brunell makes quick decisions but we are having problems with our recievers recently. We lost Patten for the season and Taylor Jacobs was promoted to starter. I am curious to see what he can do. The problem may be that using our max protection teams know that santana moss and our other recievers are the ones going out, and they double them with the safties leaving brunell with no options, and the line can't hold forever and this is how he fumbles all the time. I know its against what we do, but maybe try spreading the field with recievers on 3rd and 4th downs when most of the fumbles take place. Santana Moss has been zeroed in as his favorite target and teams now double him on every play. The Giants did this best and total shutout or offense. To win, were going to need to try something new.

My Picks for the Week

For the first time this year I will make my predictions on who will win in this weeks game.

Tampa Bay versus Atlanta

I like Tampa in this game. There coming off a big win, and Chris Simms looked pretty sharp against the redskins secondary. I dont believe that Atlanta has the secondary to compete with Tampa, and besides Vick is the most overated player in the nfl, no matter how entertaining he is.

Carolina versus Chicago

I like carolina. Chicago defense has been unbelievably good this year, but Carolina can do it all, plus their defense could is as good if not better than Chicago. Steve Smith right now has my MVP vote.

Miami versus Cleveland

Miami. Sorry Berg the browns suck.

Detriot versus Dallas

I am predicting an upset here. Im going to take Detriot. Kevin Jones and all those guys are due for a big game and Dallas looked pretty crappy in the game against the NFC east losers the EAGLES.

Jacksonville versus Tennessee

Jacksonville has a good defense. Titans are just miserable. I'll take Jacksonville and Greg Jones.

Arizona versus St.Louis

Im predicting another upset here. I'm gonna take the Cardinals. I feel warner having a big game against his old team. He knows how the defense works, and his recievers are much bigger than the Rams secondary.

New Orleans versus New England

New England. nuff said.

Philadelphia versus N.Y. Giants

New York will reclaim lead of the division after sending Philly's division record to 0-4. Philly is missing quarterback McNabb and even though I like Mcmahon, he is not a winner, and neither are the eagles anymore.

Oakland versus Washington

Washington has only been beat once this season in my mind, and that was by the Giants. The refs gave the game to the bucs last week when they failed to realize its imposible to have the ball higher thanyou nipples, when your elbows are at your side. Take an biology class refs. I like the redskins in this game, because Oaklands defense sucks, and mark brunell and santana moss will show everyone which moss is an mvp candidate.

Pitssburgh versus Baltimore

Ravens upset. Always a tough matchup and this time Big Ben isn't in to comeback.

Seattle versus San Fransico

Seattle.

Indianapolis versus Cinncinnati

In the best game of the week, I'm going to go with Peyton and James to run over the bengals run defense. Chad Johnson will find the end zone as he predicted, but he was not confident enough to guarentee a win.

New York Jets versus Denver

Denver is fast, powerful and consistent. Mike Alstott scored two touchdowns and a gutsy two point conversion in the last minute of the game to give Tampa a one point lead. At first it seemed that the ball never crossed the goal line, but it was reviewed and evidence was inconclusive to overturn the call, even though experts believe he never crossed the line. But i could bitch about it all week but the fact is the defense allowed Chris Simms to dice them up, and special teams made the costly offsides play which motivated Gruden to go for it. The redskins ran all over the Bucs, but Joey Galloway and Chris Simms, connected on numverous passes and bitched rookie corner Carlos Rogers. They kept the Cadillac in the garage and he didn't have a big game at all, but they were in good hands with Alstott who proved white men can jump as he leaped over the entire offensive and defensive lines and into the end zone. It was a tough game to lose, and even though it was only by a point, a loss is a loss.

All I heard all week is how the eagles were gonna regroup and destroy the cowboys. The fact is they played a decent game, but one can easily identify McNabb as the man who blew the game when he threw a pass directly to my favorite cowboy Roy Williams. Ironically both McNabb and Willams were responsible for keeping Owens off the field, Williams last year when he pulled that biatch down by his neck, and McNabb when he staged a Coup De Ta (however you spell it) against owens. I bet he wishes he still had owens now, cause rookie reggie brown has hands of stone, and greg lewis looks like he sleeps in an alley at night. My point is what ive been saying forever, the eagles are overratted and the team has accepted that they are terrible and have no chance of ever winning a super bowl. so kill yourselves eagles fans.

Redskins Send the Eagles to .500

In what was the most important game of the year in my opinion. The Washington Redskins held on the a 7 point lead and beat the Philadelphia Eagles 17-10. The redskins move to 5-3 in the nfc east tied with the Dallas Cowboys, and the Eagles fall to last place in the division. Even more hurting, the Eagles have lost both division appearances this year and still haven't played the first place NY Giants who demolished the redskins two weeks ago.( I originally had a whole posting on how bad the redskins played, but a computer malfunction ended my session without me being able to post.) The redskins diced up the overatted Eagles defense, and Mark Brunell had another consistent game. No Touchdowns, but no interceptions, and only one fumble. Chris Cooley and Santana Moss made 7 catches each, and Mike Sellers plunged into the end zone on his 3rd touchdown of the year. Portis was held to 60 yards, but found his way into the end zone. The eagles made many mistakes and penalties including a huge pass interference call, which my friend claimed was huge bull$#!+. The eagles made a final drive under two minutes only to have McNabb picked off by saftey Ryan Clark. Okay that was the game and here are some pictures from the glorious victory, but I have a message for eagles fans.

You will not be making the playoffs, this year, or for the next couple years. You had a great team for more than 4 years, and normally thats all your going to get. The whole T.O. situation is all your faults, so dont curse him off when you were chanting his name and braggin about how great he was for philadelphia. You all are the worst fans, and brag about never winning the super bowl. When you win one, you can talk until then go back into your holes and stay there. Bring some food and shit to read cause your gonna be in the cellar of the NFC for the next decade. I have respect for the eagles organization for kicking T.O. off the team, and andy reid is a great coach. No Joe Gibbs though, but he is humble and takes no shit. But you fans make me hate the eagles, you classless pieces of feces. You deserve it.

Redskins Outperform but still Lose

The redskins recieved their 2nd loss of the season when they lost by 7 to the Kansas City Cheifs. In the lose, their defense was shredded by both Kansas City tailbacks, Priest Holmes and Larry Johnson. They could not seem to contain either of them when they ran to the outside. The other problem was turnovers. Mark Brunell was sacked 3 times by a no name defensive end, who worked Jon Jansen. He also forced two fumbles.

Mark Brunell looked good throwing the ball. He finished the game with 3 touchdown passes and no interceptions, but 3 fumbles. He connected on a huge pass to his favorite target Santana Moss, who once again displayed his cheat code speed. Moss finished the game with 10 receptions for 173 yards and two touchdowns. H-Back Chris Cooley recorded a touchdown as well.

On a personal note, I must critizce the refs in the game. There were mulitiple holding calls missed on the chiefs. Number 77 had jersey in his hand on multiple plays, especially the one where Priest Holmes had a 70 yard touchdown reception.

The redskins should of won the game, but turnovers and bad refs led to our loss, when we absolutly statistically destroyed the Cheifs. But hey, were still ahead of the eagles.

What to do with Lavar??

The Redskins seem to have a serious problem on their hands. Lavar Arrington who we pay a great deal of money to, the man we designated as a Redskin for life, has played two plays this season and is not happy. Coaches say that he freelances to much, and does not follow the role he must in Greg Williams Defensive Scheme. After letting Priest Holmes and Larry Johnson and Tatum Bell run all over us, we need to get Lavar back into the line up. He is bar none, one of the fastest and strongest linebackers in the league. The problem is we have a solid linebacking corp, and he does not seem to be needed. I think he is needed.

I returned home this past weekend, and the main question on all Redskins fan mind is whats goin to happen to their Arrington jersey they have. Is he going to be traded? The answer to that question is no. Trading him would result in $12 million salary cap penalty because of the huge contract bonus we gave him. Releasing him would just be stupid. He has so much talent, and is one of the favorite players among the fans.

My solution is very simple. What is he. He is Fast. Fast as Hell. How many sacks have we logged this season. TWO. Renaldo Wynn is slow and Philp Daniels is slow. Those guys are just dead weight on the field. My solution is to switch him up to Defensive End and let him do what he does best. Chase down running backs and quarterbacks from the edge. He is just as big as most DE such as Peppers and Kearse, and just as fast and athletic. I dont know what Gibbs is thinking not switching him to DE. The Ravens switched Terrell Suggs from Linebacker to an end like he was in college. Do it with Arrington. It would solve all sorts of problems. He is happy, and we are happy, and most importantly, we get that pass rush we seem to lack, and no other team gets his abilities.

I will later give my synopsis of the Skins loss to the Cheifs.

Redskins Fall To Broncos

Denver Linebacker Ian Gold smacked down Mark Brunell's 2 Point conversion pass, and sealed the 2 point win for the Broncos. The Redskins played a great game against one of the tougher teams in the League. The Redskins run defense disappointed on toss and stretch plays to the outside. 2nd Year back Tatum Bell rushed for over 100 yards with 2 touchdowns to give the Broncos the lead. Mark Brunnel played consistently again, and cements himself as a trustworthy leader. Santana Moss continued to shine while full back Mike Sellers recorded his second touchdown of the season.

The real story was the matchup between former Brono Clinton Portis vs former Redskin Champ Bailey. Portis seemed to win the battle. He rushed for over a 100 yards but the Bronco's fast linebacking corp kept Portis out of the endzone. Bailey did not play due to injury. In my personal opinon, Portis is a good running back, but running backs are a dime a dozen these days, and Champ Bailey, one of my favorite players ever, is a shut down corner and his abilities are rare in the NFL these days. I believe the Broncos royally screwed the Redskins in the Bailey-Portis trade.

As the redskins record their first loss, they remain atop the NFC East tied with the Giants. Next Week they play the Kansas City Cheifs in what will be one of the toughest games of the year.

Three and OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHH

The Redskins are not getting the respect they deserve. They are the undistputed for 1st place in the division. They have beaten two of the better teams in the league. Their defense is one of the best in the league, and their offense seems to be playin consistent.

I knew the defense was tough. They limited one of the best running backs most of the game, except for a 4th quarter drive. What people need to know is that when you play the redskins, it doesn't matter what type of game your used to having, you play redskins football. Smash mouth and physical, and slow. Occasionally a big play will happen, as seen by Santana Moss on three different occasions this year. The Giants offense has been very impressive so far this year, but they will not be scoring 4 touchdowns against the redskins defense. The Eagles will not be putting up big numbers either. Sean Taylor will not let Owens own the middle of the field as the Cheifs let him sunday. On mulitple occasions Sean Taylor aka "THE FORCE", scared eagles recievers last year. Owens had no touchdowns and a fumble last time he played the skins. You could basically say that Sean Taylor own Owens.

As for the offense, Mark Brunell is finally playing good. He's not playin great, but he is winning and he is making big plays. Especially of third down. His thrid down passes are bullets, and he is using the weapons around him. Chris Cooley was making big catches.Clinton Portis was playing okay, he was getting the first downs, but nothing spectacular. He shared carries with Ladell Betts who continues to impress me with his smashmouth style. Special Team standout James Thrash continued to make smart veteran plays, and is one of the unsung heros of our team. Even Robert Royal and Mike Sellers snuck their way into the end zone.

The player of the Game, and so far the player of the year is Santana Moss. Brunell and Moss have formed some type of connection, and seems to be the go to guy. The guy has got wheels. He made the amazing catches in the cowboys game, and made a clutch catch with a great 30 yard run to put the Redskins in field goal position. People were saying that Moss was a downgrade from Lavernous Coles and we got screwed on the trade, but he seems to be silencing the critics. I loved Coles, he was a tough player who feared no one over the middle. Both Moss and Coles played for the Jets and once at the same time. We passed over Moss in the draft to select Rod "50-50" Gardner. (50-50 is the chance he caught the ball). We could of taken Moss and then aquired Coles and had both speedsters. The problem is their aren't enough balls to go around. Portis eventually will get upset with the lack of goal line carries, but he needs to do what he can in the open field to get in the end zone, thats his talent. Ladell Betts is a bigger guy and has a better chance to force his way through the line. Mark Brunell is doing what he has to, He also could potentially get the MVP for last week. He made great 3rd down passes, and even made a crucial scramble for a first down and set up Moss for the game deciding pass. He had one pick, but the pass was off the finger tips of one of his recievers and was not his fault. If he plays thsi consistent for the rest of the season, I would have no problem with our defense guarenteeing a Playoff apperance.

And lastly conratualtions to Nick Novak from Maryland on the game winning kick. Enjoy the spotlight for the week, and keep doing it. Go terps. EAGLES FANS KILL YOURSELF

FUN FACT: Redskins have as many wins this season as we have super bowl rings. Too bad the eagles will never be able to accomplish such a simple task.

Any Given Monday

HOW ABOUT THEM COWBOYS. I couldn't believe it either. After watching what could of been the most boring Monday Night Football Game of all time, the Washington Redskins pulled out the most amazing comeback since the Colts came back against the Bucs in the fourth quarter two years ago on Monday night. Mark Brunell hit Santana Moss on two long touchdown passes to put the Redskins 1 point ahead of the Cowboys.

Redskin fans saw more offense in 4 minutes than they did all of last year. Not only did Mark Brunell pick on two Pro Bowl players, but he did it twice in a row. Roy Williams and Aaron Glenn got burrrrrrnned by Santana Moss with what my friend calls Cheat Code Speed. Moss made two amazing catches, and seemed to answer critics on was he worth the trade for Lavernous Coles. Mark Brunell answered critics as well, and has taken a little bit of pressure off coach Gibbs. This game was the first time in 9 years that the Skins beat the Boys in Big D. Gibbs also beat his rival Bill "I bleach my hair" Parcells for the first time since returning to football.

What the game showed me, was the Redskins defense is still performing at a high level. My boy Sean Taylor delievered the hit of the week, forcing an incompletion on third down on the Cowboys final drive. The Cowboys offense seemed to have trouble moving the ball down the field against the Skins D.

I believe if Brunell can play as consistent as he played on Monday Night, making one big play a game, with the Redskins Defense, the Skins could be playoff contenders. Its a long shot, but after Monday Night I gained some optimism. Unfortunalty the skins can't take that big game win momentum into week 3 because they have a Bye. But for the second week in a row I can say

THE REDSKINS ARE IN FIRST PLACE IN THE DIVISION, AND THE EAGLES ARE CONTENDING FOR LAST PLACE.

Quarterback Controversy

For the third time in three years, the Redskins have quarterback controversy. Joe Gibbs said Patrick Ramsey is our man this year, but now has Mark Brunell as the starter and just as last year, Patrick Ramsey is upset. This all started in preseason when Mark Brunell looked more consistent in games than Patrick Ramsey did. Everyone knows Joe Gibbs prefers the veteran quarterback as seen in his quarterback choices in his 3 Super Bowl Wins. Theismann, Williams, and Rypen were all veterans. None of them were spectacular quarterbacks like Montana, or Marino; but they were consistent. Gibbs brought Brunell over to Washington because of the consistent numbers he put up with his years in Jacksonville and yes, his numbers are fairly impressive. However, Brunell is old and doesn't have the scrambling ability that he once did. He is still faster than Patrick Ramsey, but Gibbs' playbook doesn't exaclty match the Falcons playbook. The redskins offense is above average in terms of players. Portis is a star running back, and his backup Ladell Betts is solid as well. Tight End Chris Cooley has possibily the best hands on the team and is a great red zone target. Santana Moss and David Patten are both extremely quick, and they both overachievers. Lastly the offensive line is healthy this year and has 3 Pro Bowlers on it. With all that talent, most offensives would strive. Unfortuanlty for the Redskins, we can't get it to work. Our defense does not look to of lost any steam, so why aren't we a contender for the Super Bowl this year? The answer is our quarterbacks.

Lets take a look at the Redskins quarterbacks.

Patrick Ramsey

Ramsey was selected with a first round pick and sat our his first year so he could learn the system. Since then the Redskins have gone through three coaches and the system has changed. NFL Bust Steve Spurrier brought in his old Flordia players who flurished in preseason before getting annihalated in the regular season. Ramsey started his first game at the end of the season so we could see what he was made of. He played alright for a rookie, but all that time he spent on the bench he missed the NFL game speed. In his third year, and Spurrier's last year. Ramsey was the most sacked quarterback. It was absolutley painful watching this poor kid getting killed on every play. He however remained very popular amongst the fans.

Last Season Brunell was the starter and was extremely unproductive. Finally Ramsey was back in the number one spot. He played too inconsistent. Every time he dropped back to pass, I held my breath because I feared a turnover. Every pass was overthrown, and in the red zone, most passes were picked off.

Ramsey started the first game this season against the Bears, and was clothslined by a Bears Linebacker and was taken out. Ramsey was cleared to play, but Gibbs stuck with Brunell. I like Patrick Ramsey and believe he has a great arm, but his accuracy and decision making are questionable. With the talent we have, and the offense we run, accuracy is more important than strength.

Mark Brunell

Mark Brunell was once one of the best quarterbacks. But that was years ago. He was replaced in Jacksonville by Byron Leftwich and landed a huge contract here in Washington. After his miserable 2003 performance, I was all in favor of cutting him, but the Redskins salary cap would take such a big hit, its better to keep him on.

Should Brunell start. I believe we should give him one last chance. He played consistent enough against a tough Bears Defense and as long as he doesn't create turnovers, lets run the ball, and make short passes. I know its not exciting, but I'd rather have the braggin rights, which I haven't had since 1991. Brunell's legs are better than they were last year, so he can scramble out of the pocket and make plays.

Lastly if Brunell doesn't play well, I'd like to introduce Jason Cambell to everyone. The Redskins selected the former Auburn Tiger with a first round draft pick last year and gave up a potentially high draft pick this year to Denver. Once again Denver gets a great deal.

Cambell joins our team with a high price. So if were already planning a sub .500 season, why not see what this guy can do. Lets get him caught up to game speed, and get him ready for next year. He has the speed and the arm to be the next McNabb. Donovan took time to mold into the great pocket passer that he is. Everytime he drops back to pass, he normally avoids 4 guys before throwing a strike. I always hold my breath cause I know what hes capable of, and it scares me. I want Cambell to do the same thing to opponents.

My Conclusion is to give Brunell 2 games to see what he has left. If he sucks, put Cambell in. He's young and hes gonna make mistakes, so lets leave it on a season where were positive our team has a low chance of making the playoffs. He is surronded by talent, so lets let them make plays. As for Ramsey, there is no way he will sit on the bench for another season, so start looking for a trade, and if no one bites, I'm happy with having him as an insurance policy, cause he is a decent backup.

Just for the Record. And because this may be my last opportunty this year.

THE EAGLES ARE IN SOLE POSITION OF LAST PLACE IN THE DIVISION

Redskins Record Their First Win

The Redskins narrowly defeated the Chicago Bears 9-7 in their first game. For once I can say the Redskins are the division leaders. Unfortunatley so are the New York Giants, and Dallas Cowboys. The Philadelphia Eagles play the Atlanta Falcons and will most likely win tonight unless McNabb goes down with an injury early.

My thoughts on the game are that the Redskins offense is still miserable. Ramsey is still not connecting with recievers comfortably, and ever time he drops back to pass my stomach is in my throat. Portis rushed for 121 yards on 21 carries. Portis is a great back but I feel that he is not the type of back that works well in Joe Gibbs offense. Backup running back Ladell Betts is a much larger and physical player, and fits Gibbs smashmouth system. The little wide recievers Santana Moss and David Patten suprised me with their big plays. Moss broke off a 52 yards run after a catch and finished the game with 96 yards. David Patten also made some clutch third down catches. Tight End Chris Cooley who is one of my favorite players caught a touchdown catch, but was called for interference and the touchdown was nullified. Two plays later, Bears Lineback Lance Briggs clotheslined Patrick Ramsey in the neck taking him out for the game. No penalty was called, even though it was a head shot. The Redskins offense didn't score any touchdowns, but kicker John Hall booted 3 field goals to give the skins the lead and the win.

The Defense played great. The departures of popular players Fred Smoot and Antonio Pierce did not seem to slow down this unit. They shut down the run, and limited pass plays. The Bears offense only scored once after recovering a fumble on a Redskins return. The defense is what is going to hold this team together. It doesn't matter who they play, they make the other team play redskins football. They limited the Eagles last year, and gave them a real scare, even though they lost by less than a field goal. I feel this defensive unit will only become better as they play together. Sean Taylor is a wrecking machine and has become a leader on the defense. He lined up on offense as a reciever in the red zone yesterday. Although the ball was not thrown in his direction, I feel that it will very soon.

Mark Brunnel, the Redskins back up quarterback has been penciled in as the started for next weeks game against the Dallas Cowboys. I will speak more on that in my next posting. As for now, I'm happy that we got a win, I feel confident in our defense, but will see what happens when we play a team that isn't miserable.
